Abstract
Tlo je jedan od najznačajnijih faktora održanja biološke raznolikosti. Ono predstavlja vitalni resurs koji predstavlja izvor hranjivih tvari za pojedine trofičke sustave. Fauna tla, koja obuhvaća različite skupine organizama, ima značajan i višestruki utjecaj na fizičke i kemijske procese u tlu. Prema veličini organizama, faunu tla dijelimo na mikrofaunu, mezofaunu, makrofaunu. Razgradnja organske tvari, transformacija otpadnih materijala koji postaju hranjive tvari za biljke te biološko kruženje elemenata samo su neki od procesa kojima održavaju ravnotežu u cijelom ekosustavu. U ovom završnom radu opisani su procesi u tlu značajni za pojedine skupine organizama s posebnim osvrtom na mezofaunu i njihovu istraženost na području Republike Hrvatske.
Abstract (english)
Soil is one of the most significant factors in maintaining biological diversity. It is a vital resource that serves as a source of nutrients for individual trophic systems. Soil fauna, which includes various groups of organisms, has a significant and diverse impact on the physical and chemical processes in the soil. Based on the size of the organisms, soil fauna is divided into microfauna, mesofauna, and macrofauna. Decomposition of organic matter, transformation of waste materials into nutrients for plants, and the biological cycling of elements are just some of the processes through which the soil fauna maintains balance in the entire ecosystem. This final paper describes the processes in the soil that are significant for specific groups of organisms, with a particular focus on mesofauna and the degree of its research in the Republic of Croatia.
