Abstract
Bijela roda (Ciconia ciconia L.) migratorna je vrsta iz porodice roda (Ciconiidae). Nastanjuje močvare, livade i šume. Hrani se većinom malim sisavcima, vodozemcima, gmazovima, kukcima i gujavicama. Antropogenim utjecajem bijela roda sve češće dolazi u kontakt s različitim izvorima onečišćenja koji se putem prehrane akumuliraju u hranidbeni lanac. Zagađenje okoliša i stres dovode do epigenetskih modifikacija koje posljedično uvjetuju promjenu u ekspresiji gena. U ovome radu određen je... More postotak metilacije regulatorne regije gena za metalotioneine (MT). Za određivanje postotka metilacije korišten je Metilacijski specifičan PCR u stvarnom vremenu (qMSP). Rezultati su pokazali značajnu statističku razliku za dva uzorka s područja s manjom okolišnom zagađenošću. Navedena dva uzorka ističu se sa manjim postotkom metilacije. Potrebna su daljnja istraživanja za potpuno razumijevanje utjecaja onečišćenja okoliša i teških metala na metilaciju i ekspresiju gena za metalotioneine kod bijele rode. Less
Abstract (english)
The white stork (Ciconia ciconia L.) is a migratory species from the Ciconiidae family. It inhabits swamps, meadows and forests. It feeds mostly on small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects and earthworms . Due to anthropogenic influence, the white stork more and more often comes into contact with different sources of pollution that accumulate in the food chain through food. In this work, the methylation percentage of the regulatory region of the metallothionein (MT) gene was determined. Methylation-specific realtime PCR (qMSP) is used to determine the percentage of methylation. The results showed a significant statistical difference for two samples from areas with less environmental pollution. The mentioned two samples stand out with a lower percentage of methylation. Further research is needed to fully understand the impact of environmental pollution and heavy metals on methylation and metallothionein gene expression in white storks. Less
