Abstract
Cilj ovog rada istražiti utječe li boja svjetlosti na intenzitet fotosinteze jednostanične zelene alge te postiže li se svjetlosna kompenzacijska točka pri značajno različitim intenzitetima plave i crvene svjetlosti. S toga su imobilizirane alge izložene samo plavoj svjetlosti (450 nm), samo crvenoj svjetlosti (660 nm) te kombinaciji plave i crvene svjetlosti (450 nm + 660 nm). Za praćenje promjene koncentracije CO2 korišten je hidrogenkarbonatni indikator i apsorbancija pri 550 nm. Rezultati ovog istraživanja pokazali su da se hidrogenkarbonatni indikator može koristiti kao indirektni pokazatelj ovisnosti intenziteta fotosinteze o intenzitetu dostupne svjetlosti kao i o valnoj duljini svjetlosti. Učinkovitost korištenja plave svijetlosti za fotosintezu značajno je manjau usporedbi s iskorištenjem crvene svijetlosti pri istom intenzitetu, što se može pripisati različitim molekulama pigmenata koji maksimalno apsorbiraju ove dvije valne duljine. Kombinacija crvenog i plavog svjetla pokazala je veću fotosintetsku aktivnost u usporedbi s monokromatskim svjetlima.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis of green algae and whether light compensation point is achieved at significantly different light intensities of blue and red light. Therefore, immobilised algae were exposed to monochromatic blue light (450 nm), red light (660 nm) and combination blue + red light (450 + 660 nm). Hydrogencarbonate indicator and absorbance at 550 nm were used for determining changes in CO2 concentration. The results showed that Hydrogencarbonate indicator may be used as indirect measure of changes in the photosynthetic rate due to light intensity and wavelength. The efficiency of photosynthetic use of blue light was significantly lower in comparison to the red light, which may be attributed to different pigment molecules absorbing these two wavelengths. Combination blue + red light showed higher photosynthetic activity in comparison to monochromatic treatment.
