Abstract
Iako su biljke ukorijenjene u tlo, koriste pokrete kao prilagodbe za bijeg ili smanjenje štete uslijed vanjskih nepovoljnih faktora, ili pak za osiguravanje razvoja. Turgorom pokretana gibanja omogućena su strogom kontrolom gradijenta vodnog potencijala između stanica i okoline dok se higroskopska gibanja oslanjaju se na adhezijska svojstva vode i sposobnost tkiva da upija vodu. Neke biljne vrste postižu zapanjujuće brzine vodom pokretanih gibanja u koje su uključeni i drugi mehanizmi poput nagomilavanja elastične energije u posebno građena tkiva.
Abstract (english)
Although plants are rooted in the ground they use movements of body parts to invade harmful environmental influence and to insure normal growth and development. Turgor-driven movements require tight control of the water potential gradient between cells and surrounding area while hygroscopic movements depend on adhesion properties of water and tissue ability to hold water. Some plants are capable to move their parts in remarkable speed, in which case some other mechanisms, like rapid release of stored elastic energy, are involved.
