Abstract
Rod Ulmus pripada porodici Ulmaceae te obuhvaća brojne listopadne drvenaste vrste. Na području Europe prirodno su rasprostranjene tri vrste: brijest vez (Ulmus laevis Pall.) te nizinski (Ulmus minor Mill) i gorski brijest (Ulmus glabra Huds.). Holandska bolest brijesta uzrokovana je fitopatogenim gljivama iz roda Ophiostoma. Vrsta Ophiostoma novo-ulmi danas je glavni uzročnik ove bolesti, a dijeli se na dvije podvrste O. novo-ulmi ssp. novo-ulmi i ssp. americana, koje se u prirodi mogu hibridizirati. U ovom radu na temelju mjerenja brzine rasta micelija karakterizirani su izolati fitopatogene gljive O. novo-ulmi koji zaražavaju brijest vez i nizinski brijest na lokalitetu Jastrebarsko, a uzorkovani su tijekom 2012. i 2021. godine. Utvrđeno je da svi testirani izolati, neovisno o tome kojoj podvrsti pripadaju (ssp. novo-ulmi, ssp. americana ili hibridni izolati) te kada su prikupljeni (2012. ili 2021. godine) pokazuju brzinu rasta u skladu s očekivanim vrijednostima za ovu vrstu.
Abstract (english)
The genus Ulmus belongs to the family Ulmaceae and includes numerous deciduous woody species. Three species are naturally distributed in Europe: European white elm (Ulmus laevis Pall.), field elm (Ulmus minor Mill.), and wych elm (Ulmus glabra Huds.). Dutch elm disease is caused by phytopathogenic fungi of the genus Ophiostoma. The species Ophiostoma novo-ulmi is today the main cause of this disease. This pathogen is divided into two subspecies O. novo-ulmi ssp. novo-ulmi and ssp. americana, which can hybridize in nature. In this study, isolates of the phytopathogenic fungus O. novo-ulmi that infect the European white elm and field elm at the site Jastrebarsko were characterized based on the measurement of the mycelial growth rate. Tested isolates were sampled in 2012 and 2021. It was found that all tested isolates, regardless of which subspecies they belong to (ssp. novo-ulmi, ssp. americana or hybrid isolates) and when they were collected (in 2012 or 2021) show a growth rate in accordance with the expected values for this species.
