Abstract
Porodica Fagaceae obuhvaća rodove Quercus, Fagus i Castanea koji su rasprostranjeni diljem Europe. Njima pripadajuće svojte imaju veliku gospodarsku važnost kao sirovine u drvnoj industriji. Zbog ljekovitih svojstava od davnina se koriste u tradicionalnoj medicini, a istraživanja su pokazala da sadrže različite aktivne tvari koje se u suvremenoj medicini mogu koristiti za liječenje bolesti poput raka, dijabetesa i neurodegenerativnih bolesti.
Abstract (english)
The Fagaceae family includes the Quercus, Fagus, and Castanea genera, widespread throughout Europe. Taxa belonging to them have great economic importance as raw materials in the wood industry. Due to their medicinal properties, they have been used in traditional medicine since ancient times. Additionally, studies indicated that they possess various active substances which can be used in modern medicine to treat diseases such as cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders.
