Abstract
Vodeni kornjaši pripadaju velikom koljenu člankonožaca. Red kornjaša (Coleoptera) broji oko 400 000 opisanih vrsta. Porodica Hydrophilidae ima jako veliki broj prestavnika i žive na različitim tipovima staništa. U rodu Hydrochara nalazi se 23 vrste, od kojih se na području Hrvatske nalazi 2 vrste, H. flavipes i H. caraboides. Budući da imaju veliku morfološku sličnost, na temelju barkodiranja i molekularnog markera za gen citokrom oksidazu podjedinicu I (COI), odredile su se vrste unutar roda Hydrochara. Nakon izvršenog istraživanja dobiveni su rezultati koji se poklapaju s podacima u bazi podataka Fauna Europaea. Potvrđene su dvije vrste iz roda Hydrochara, H. flavipes i H. caraboides. Na otoku Virju, odnosno u gornjem toku Drave uzorkovane su jedinke za koje se procjenjuje da pripadaju novoj vrsti, koja se prije nije evidentirala na području Hrvatske.
Abstract (english)
Water beetles belong to the arthropods. Coleoptera counts around 400 000 of the described type. Hydrophilidae has a very large number of representatives and they live on different types of habitats. In the Hydrochara kind there are 23 species, two of them are located on the Croatian territory, H. flavipes and H. caraboides. Since they have a large morphological resemblence, based on barcoding and molecular markers for gene cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI), species were determined within the Hydrochara kind. After the research has been carried out, results have been obtained which match with data in the database of the Fauna Europaea. Two species were confirmed in the Hydrochara kind, H. flavipes i H. caraboides. On the island Virje, or in the top flow of the river Drava, individuals werw sampled, which are evaluated to belong to a new species, which has not been recorded before on the Croatian territory.
