Abstract
Posteljica ili placenta, jedini organ izgrađen od tkiva dviju jedinki, osigurava fetusu pravilan rast i razvoj svojim mnogobrojnim funkcijama: respiracijskom, hormonskom, zaštitnom, imunološkom, ekskrecijskom, nutritivnom i hemostatičkom funkcijom. Da bi ona obavljala dobro sve te uloge, preduvjet je upravo njen pravilan rast i razvoj. Ipak se radi o privremenom organu, poveznici majke i fetusa u jednu cjelinu koji je uspio razviti mehanizme zaštite fetusa od odbacivanja zbog djelovanja obrambenog stava majčinog imunološkog sustava, koji su objašnjeni detaljnije u tekstu
Abstract (english)
Placenta is the only organ made of tissue of two individuals which ensures proper growth and development to the fetus with its many functions: respiratory, hormonal, protective, immune, excretion, nutrition and hemostatic function. To perform all these roles properly, actually her own development is very important. However, placenta is temporary organ, and mother together with her fetus acts like one unity, so they have been able to develop mechanisms of protection against fetal rejection due to the protective attitude of the mother's immune system, which are in detail explained below.
