Abstract
Sve vrste roda Latrodectus, kao i vrsta mediteranska crna udovica (Latrodectus mactans tredecimguttatus Rossi, 1790), prisutna u našim krajevima, neke su od najotrovnijih vrsta pauka koje svojim otrovom na mnoge životinje djeluju izrazito snažno, dok slabije djeluju na ljude. Nisu agresivne, no ako dođe do uboda, trovanje izazvano ubodom prati niz različitih kliničkih simptoma i naziva se latrodektizam. Do sada su znanstvenici iz otrova mediteranske crne udovice uspješno izolirali najmanje sedam latrotoksina koji imaju ciljano djelovanje na neku skupinu životinja te dva latrodektina koji povećavaju toksičnost latrotoksina, međutim još se uvijek istražuju ostale komponente otrova.
Abstract (english)
Every species of genus Latrodectus, as well as the Mediterranean black widow (Latrodecuts mactans tredecimguttatus Rossi, 1790) which lives in our area, is one of the most venomous spiders, whose venom has extremely negative affect on most animals, including humans. They are not aggressive, but the bite is poisonous and is followed by a variety of clinical symptoms, what is called latrodectism. Till now, scientists successfully isolated at least seven latrotoxins which target a specific group of animals and two latrodectins which increases toxicity of latrotoxins from black widow spider venom, but the other components of the venom are still unknown.
