Abstract
Krpelji (Ixodida) su mali paraziti iz razreda paučnjaka (Arachnida) rasprostranjeni širom svijeta. Oni se ističu kao vektori koji mogu prenijeti različite viruse, bakterije i protozoe koji utječu na zdravlje životinja i ljudi. Hranjenje je ključan proces tijekom kojeg krpelji dobivaju i prenose patogene. Neki od poznatijih patogena koji se prenose krpeljima su: virus krpeljnog encefalitisa, Rickettsia rickettsii, Hepatozoon canis i spirohete kompleksa Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato koje uzrokuju lajmsku boreliozu. Iako mnoge vrste krpelja mogu prenijeti patogene, neki od najčešćih prijenosnika su vrste roda Ixodes te vrste poput Amblyomma variegatum, Rhipichephalus sanguineus i Dermacentor variabilis.
Abstract (english)
Ticks (Ixodida) are worldwide distributed small parasites of arachinds class (Arachnida). They are prominent as vectors of different viruses, bacterias and protozoas that can affect on health both of animals and humans. Tick feeding cycle is cruical process in reciving and transmiting pathogens. Some of better known tick-borne pathogens are: tick-borne encephalitis virus, Rickettsia rickettsii, Hepatozoon canis and Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato spirochetes that cause lyme disease. Many tick species can transmit pathogens but the most common are species of genus Ixodes and species like Amblyomma variegatum, Rhipichephalus sanguineus and Dermacentor variabilis.
